About Piste Picker

Last updated 4 November 2026

Piste Picker helps UK skiers and snowboarders find European resorts that suit how they ride, when they can go, what they want to spend and how far they're willing to travel.

Tell it your departure airport, dates, group and riding style. It ranks resorts on how well they match, explains why, and links to flights, places to stay, equipment hire, lessons and transfers for the resort you pick.

Who's behind it

Piste Picker is made by SeasonWiseGo, a small independent project run by Craig Owen in the UK. It started as a tool to plan our own snowboarding trips.

Where the resort information comes from

Altitudes, piste lengths, transfer times, lift pass prices and the accommodation mix are compiled from resorts' and operators' published information. They are approximate, and resorts change things from season to season.

The snow-sure figures come from 20 winters of historical snow data (2006/07 to 2025/26) from the ERA5-Land reanalysis, via Open-Meteo. For each month, they show how often there was at least 50 cm of natural snow around the resort, topped up for snowmaking. They describe the wider area, not individual pistes, and they aren't live snow reports. Always check the resort's own snow report before you travel.

Prices, flights and availability are shown by the sites we link to, not by us, and can change at any time.

How Piste Picker is paid for

Using Piste Picker is free. Some links may earn us a small commission if you book, at no extra cost to you. This never changes how resorts are ranked. Read how we make money.
